Yesterday we started the moving process! Our "stuff" from home has finally arrived and made it through customs undamaged. We met the movers at the apartment last night. In Dubai style they were supposed to arrive at 1:00, called to say they would be there about 4:00 and then didn't move anything into the apartment until almost 7:30. But...we have our stuff. The movers unpacked everything so now all we have to do is organize and put stuff away. Our refrigerator will be delivered on Sunday so we decided to stay at the hotel until Saturday. We can also pick up our car on Saturday so things seem to be coming together.
Our apartment is located on the Palm Jumeirah, which is considered the 8th Wonder of the World. It is a man-made island that is designed to look like a palm tree. We live on the left side of the "trunk" (on the satellite picture). Our apartment is on the third floor, overlooking the pool/garden area and the Arabian Sea. We have two bedrooms and 2 1/2 bathrooms with a maid's room. We are using the maid's room as storage/office but MANY people in Dubai have live in maids that actually live in these VERY small quarters. (We don't think much more than a twin size bed would fit in this space...see picture).
The three of us are anxious to have a space we can begin to call "home"...at least for now.
