Savannah is 10 Months Old-Part 2

To continue Savannah's 10 month celebration we headed to the St. Louis Arch with my mom, dad, sister and brother-in-law, Jon.

The Arch (or the Gateway to the West) is the centerpiece for the Jefferson National Memorial. It was built as a monument to the westward expansion of the United States. At 630 feet tall, it is the tallest man-made monument in the United States. It is also considered the tallest stainless-steel monument in the world. Construction on the arch completed in 1965. The arch is designed to withstand earthquakes and was built to sway up to 9 inches in each direction. Underground (and in between the two legs) there is the Museum of Westward Expansion, this is also where you access the elevators to travel to the top of the arch. On one side of the arch you can see the Mississippi River and the other side looks at the Old Courthouse and Downtown St. Louis.
