Iftar Dinner

Last night the three of us went to our first Iftar dinner. An Iftar dinner is the evening meal when Muslims are allowed to break their fasting during Ramadan. It occurs just after sunset. For non-Muslims it is basically a buffet dinner with a wide range of different types of foods. We went to dinner one of Chris' coworkers and his girlfriend. They are originally from New York and have lived here for about 2 years, so they were able to help us answer questions about where to purchase things for the apartment and things to do within the city. We ate at the Arboretum inside the Al Qasr of Madinat Jumeirah. The Madinat Jumeriah is a resort community that is designed to recreate "old Arabia" but with lots of luxury! Al Qasr means "the palace" and is the center point of the resort community. The architecture and design of the hotel is meant to reflect a Sheikh's summer residence. The food was great and Savannah was very well behaved! :) With over 45 restaurants within the resort community, I am sure we will be back to visit.
