The Beijing Zoo

After the Olympic sites we headed over to the Beijing Zoo. The Beijing Zoo is one of the oldest zoos in China and is landscaped to resemble a traditional Chinese garden with lakes, dense trees, meadows, streams, pavilions and historical buildings. We saw bears, tigers, lions, monkeys, camels and of course the main attraction panda bears. The landscape of the zoo is beautiful but some of the animal homes/houses/cages are pretty dismal in comparison to the Detroit or St. Louis Zoo.
Instead of
trying
to recreate the
animals natural habitat
many of the animals
are contained in a cement cage or pen.
