Tiananmen Square

Tiananmen Square is a large city square in the center of Beijing. It has been the site of many important events throughout China's long history. Today, it is still used as a massive meeting place. It is also home to the Monument to the People's Hero, the National Museum of China, the Great Hall of People and the National Flag. Trees line the east and west edge of the square but there are no trees or benches within the square itself. We did notice lots of video/security cameras on the lamp posts and it is commonly known to be heavily monitored by uniformed and plain clothed police officers.
